These paleo vegan Oreo cookies are a trip down memory lane! They taste just like the real deal while being low in sugar, keto friendly, and completely vegan!

Get ready for the best Paleo Oreo cookie you will ever taste! These healthy Oreos are only made with six ingredients (down from the 12 ingredients in the standard Oreo cookie) and taste just like your favorite cookie from childhood. Seriously, everyone that has tried these so far (more than just Jared, I swear!) said that if they didn’t know better, they would have thought they were eating a real Oreo!

These Paleo Oreo cookies are just so easy too. They came together in under 30 minutes (no refrigerating the dough!) and are perfect for anyone with a chocolate craving!

Oreos were one of my favorite cookies as a kid too. How did you eat your Oreo? I would always peel one cookie off, eat it, and then lick the cream filling!

Or I would eat them Parent Trap style, dipped in peanut butter!

Actually, that was one of my favorite desserts as a kid, and now I’m able to enjoy it once again! Dip these homemade Oreos in a little peanut butter while watching your favorite movie with a glass of red wine = my favorite kind of Friday night 😉

These homemade paleo Oreo cookies are actually keto friendly as well! Yep, these keto Oreos are low in carb if you swap in a keto friendly sweetener, such as green leaf crushed stevia. I always recommend using stevia as the actual plant that it is- not it’s white processed counterpart, because that’s what can cause some digestive upsets.

But if you’re not keto, these healthy Oreos are still for you because they’ll please anyone: if you’re gluten free, vegan, paleo, or just looking for a fun alternative to try, these paleo Oreo cookies hit the spot 🙂

Oh, and if you’re AIP, just swap out the cacao powder for carob powder, and you’ll be golden!

Now, I keep saying how easy and simple these cookies are…so let’s get to it!

Homemade Paleo Oreo Cookie Ingredients & Tips:

Cacao Powder: well you can’t have healthy Oreos without some chocolate! As always, I recommend using a high quality cacao powder, like from Imlak’esh, because then you’ll get the most benefits and flavor from the cacao! Plus it’s organic, so even better!

Coconut Flour: this is the only flour you’ll need for this recipe! Really cool too because you don’t need a lot to make a decent amount of cookies 🙂 I love coconut flour because it also adds a bit of sweetness from the coconut!

Coconut Oil: so for this recipe, I highly recommend using coconut oil that is at room temp and is slightly softened, but not completely melted. It’s okay if it’s a little watery. However, you don’t want completely melted coconut oil because then the dough will be too sticky! If it is a little sticky, place the dough into the fridge for 10 minutes just to harden up a little.

Maple Syrup: ohhhh my beloved maple syrup! I might as well just move to Canada at this point #AyCanada haha! For these Paleo Oreo cookies, stick with the maple syrup over coconut sugar because the wetness from the maple syrup helps to keep these healthy Oreos sticking together! Oh, and if you can, local is best!

Coconut Butter: only one ingredient for the cream filling on these homemade Oreo cookies?! Hellz yeah! I love using coconut butter for any cream or filling because it adds a natural sweetness to any recipe, like my famous Paleo cookie skillet! My favorite brand is Artisana Organics- really amazing company filled with the kindest and most hard working people. Plus, they make a great nut and coconut butter!

Another thing that I forgot to mention is that these keto Oreos are completely nut free! So if you have a nut allergy, rejoice because these healthy Oreos just became your best friend!

It’s always my mission to make most of my Paleo recipes nut free (and a lot of my vegan recipes too!). This is because I feel that the Paleo and vegan industries are just too inundated with products that contain nuts! Which makes eating most recipes categorized as Paleo and/or vegan out of the question for nut allergy folks.

And if you know the Banana Diaries at all, it’s about inclusivity! I would hate to have anyone feel left out 🙂 So these Paleo Oreo cookies are also completely nut free for those who can’t eat nuts!

I just love making recipes that please everyone! I really feel that all foods can be enjoyed by any type of person. You can be older or be a kid, have a career focused life or be a home body, know all about health or nothing at all, etc. I feel that food brings us together, and what better way to come together than over a twist on a childhood classic, like these Paleo Oreo cookies 🙂

That’s what the Banana Diaries is all about too! I want everyone to be able to come together over good tasting food that has amazing benefits so that we can talk about the tough topics, like attaining food freedom, finding the career of our dreams, earning more money to have complete freedom to travel wherever we want and give back, how to navigate relationships (both with significant others and friends) and how to live your best life by adding positive impact.

So the more people can enjoy these recipes, the more perspectives we have to talk about these topics! I believe that food freedom is the first step in gaining true life freedom, which is why I created a free guide on how I achieved food freedom to start living my best life.

And I want you to have that same freedom! So if you’re interested in learning more, you can download the free guide below 🙂

Description

These paleo vegan Oreo cookies are a trip down memory lane! They taste just like the real deal while being low in sugar, keto friendly, and completely vegan!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup (90 grams) coconut flour
  • 1/4 cup (30 grams) arrowroot starch
  • 1/3 cup (35 grams) cacao powder
  • 1/3 cup (60 grams) coconut sugar
  • 3/4 cup (162 grams) coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/3 cup coconut butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together coconut flour, cacao powder, sea salt, and baking soda.
  3. Add in coconut oil and maple syrup, and mix together, either with a spoon or with your hands.
  4. Take about 1 tbsp of dough and roll into a ball. Press into a thin round, like 1 part of an Oreo cookie. You can also roll the dough out with a rolling pin and parchment paper and use a cookie cutter for perfect rounds!
  5. Repeat for the remaining dough. Make sure you have an even amount of cookies (I made about 16 with this dough).
  6. Place in the oven and bake for 7-10 minutes. The cookies should look and feel tough.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Then place in the freezer for 10 minutes.
  8. Once the cookies are slightly frozen, spoon about 1-2 tsps of coconut butter onto the bottom of one cookies. Press another cookie on top.
  9. Repeat for the remaining cookies and place in the freezer or fridge to harden.
  10. Enjoy with a glass of coconut milk or dipped in your favorite nut butter! Enjoy!
