Sugar Free Strawberry Jam (Whole30, Paleo)
Incredibly simple sugar free strawberry jam that’s Paleo and Whole30 friendly! Only two ingredients!
I don’t know about you, but I lived off of peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches as a kid. My mom would also throw in a few banana slices (because I’ve been obsessed with bananas since I was a kid- hands down favorite fruit!).
It just doesn’t get any better than that!
Now that my taste buds are slightly more refined though (I would hope at least ha!), I decided I don’t really need that extra sugary sweetness that sometimes comes with jams. Instead, I really want the fruit to be the main star.
Enter in this incredibly easy sugar free strawberry jam. Made with only two ingredients (strawberries and lemon), you’ll freak over how good this is.
In fact, Jared and I actually served this over our Paleo vegan strawberry shortcakes the other day and it was incredible. I think I almost prefer them with sugar free strawberry jam!
How to make sugar free strawberry jam
Making a homemade sugar free strawberry jam that’s Paleo and Whole30 friendly is actually quite simple!
All you’ll need to begin are the strawberries, lemon juice, and a touch of arrowroot powder if you’d like to thicken it even more (though I find you don’t really need the arrowroot powder!).
Begin by thoroughly rinsing and slicing the strawberries. Slice the tops off as well.
Then add the strawberries and lemon to a pot and bring it to a boil. Once it’s boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cover with a lid.
Then you’ll let it cook for a few minutes. After, you’ll mash the strawberries in the pot and transfer to a jar that you can store with a lid.
Allow the jar to cool for a bit before placing it into the fridge, then chill the strawberry jam for at least an hour before using.
That’s it! A super easy and simple Paleo strawberry jam!
How to thicken strawberry jam without sugar
This one is easy. If you find that your strawberry jam isn’t quite as thick as you’d like, you can add in a teaspoon of arrowroot powder. Most people use powdered pectin, but I find that it’s not the most common ingredient in pantries.
Arrowroot powder will do just fine! Just stir it into the jam while it’s still hot, and let it chill to thicken.
What to eat with strawberry jam
I love to stir a little bit of my Paleo strawberry jam into some dairy free plain yogurt for a little bit of sweetness.
It’s also wonderful stirred into oatmeal! Instead of using maple syrup, like in my vegan protein overnight oats, you can swap in the strawberry jam and add some peanut butter for a PB&J style oatmeal!
You can also smear it on some toast or make an actual PB&J of course 🙂
I hope you love this sugar free strawberry jam as much as I do! If you give it a go, let me know down below in the comments section. As always, I love to see your beautiful creations on Instagram and Pinterest, so be sure to tag me there!
Happy jamming!

Ooo so simple and yummy! Helping me get into those Spring vibes even though it’s still chilly here! 🙂
Yess!!! Enjoy!
you said lemon juice as ingredient then water in directions! Not sure which to do I’m making blueberry jam for the cake frosting!
Hi Lizzie! I’m so sorry for the confusion, that’s my error when I saved the recipe card, it didn’t fully edit properly! I just adjusted it now, so it should reflect just the lemon juice 🙂 Enjoy!
How long will this keep in the fridge?
Hi Wendy! About a week 🙂
This was so easy! I did the blueberry Jam for the Lemon Blueberry cake, and it was so simple, I did not find myself really needing any arrowroot or pectin.
In addition to that, this is good jam 🙂 I think I’d like mine with just a touch more sweetness too it, but if you want sugar free and fresh this is a good recipe to follow! I never knew it was so easy,
Can’t wait to do more of your recipes ❤️
Hi! Making the blueberry jam for the lemon blueberry cake, but the jam is quite runny/watery as I’m mashing it. Normal?
Hi Radmila! Yes, totally normal- as you cook it more, the liquid will reduce!
Hi! I’m wanting to make this for the cake recipe. Could I use frozen blueberries or would it be too watery?
Yes you can! You’ll just have to cook off the liquid a bit more 🙂
