With just 4 dairy free ingredients and a refined sugar free option, this lush peanut butter mousse is the ultimate peanut butter lover’s dessert! We’re also layering it with crushed homemade gluten free Oreos for even extra decadence!
Why you’ll LOVE this peanut butter mousse recipe:
I’m a fan of all easy desserts like no-bake mini cheesecake, banana pudding, and of course chocolate mousse. But the ease of this peanut butter mousse is reaching a whole new level.
And as a vegan dessert cookbook author, I’ve had my fair share of desserts. This vegan peanut butter mousse- you’re going to be speechless.
Plus, my husband, the peanut butter connoisseur, couldn’t put this one down.
Let me tell you about this delicious and easy dairy-free mousse recipe:
- Texture: Think of the fluffiest chocolate mousse you’ve ever had- then make it peanut butter flavored. That’s this mousse recipe. It’s perfectly soft, cloud-like, and light yet decadent, and is so spoonable.
- Ease: You only need 4 simple ingredients to make this naturally vegan peanut butter mousse, and the process is even easier. Just whisk everything together and chill in the fridge! In fact, because we’re using plant based ingredients, the chilling process is even quicker.
- Quick to make and enjoy! After just 10 minutes of making this mousse, you can absolutely enjoy it right away. However, if you give it 30 minutes in the fridge, the texture will be just perfect.
- Taste: If you love peanut butter, then you’re going to freak for this peanut butter mousse. It’s rich, nutty, just perfectly sweet with a hint of a tang from the cream cheese! And if you love the combo of chocolate and peanut butter, then the crushed Oreos are PERFECT for you!
- Ingredients: We only need 4 ingredients, and they’re all vegan and dairy free, which is great for allergies. You can, of course, swap in non-vegan ingredients, but the plant-based ingredients really work well here.
Grab these 4 ingredients:
- Peanut butter: You want a super creamy peanut butter here, and yes you can use natural peanut butter! I prefer it over using a more processed peanut butter, like Skippy’s or Jif. Just make sure to stir in the oils before using your peanut butter because you need those for a fluffy mousse!
- Vegan heavy cream: You can also swap in coconut cream if you’d like. I prefer to use Edward & Sons heavy coconut cream if I’m going that route. For heavy cream though, Silk and Plant Crock have a great dairy free heavy cream that actually tastes like cream! I love using it in my cheesecake recipes and to make whipped cream.
- Dairy Free Cream Cheese: The slight tang from the cream cheese really complements the sweet and nutty flavors in this peanut butter mousse! I like to use either Tofutti or Miyoko’s vegan cream cheese. Kite Hill is also good!
- Sugar: Unlike other peanut butter mousse recipes on the internet, I wanted to stick with a granulated sugar because I find it’s easier to find vegan, and also lends itself to using alternative options should you want refined sugar free. If you want to use refined sugar free, swap in coconut sugar or maple sugar!
- Optional: We have a few optional flavor enhancers, including vanilla extract and of course, crushed Oreos! Not necessary for a delicious peanut butter mousse, but certainly helps 🙂

Can I make this mousse keto?
I personally haven’t tried this, but I would imagine it would work with a granulated keto-approved sweetener. If you’re looking for just refined sugar free, you can swap in either coconut sugar or maple sugar.
Storage & Freezing:
- Refrigerator: Store the vegan peanut butter mousse in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Then enjoy as you’d like!
- Freezer: You can alternatively freeze this peanut butter mousse if you’d like! Store it in an airtight container for up to 3 months. When you’d like to enjoy, allow the mousse to sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.

Description
This easy peanut butter mousse is deliciously fluffy and perfectly sweet- and so quick to make! With just 4 dairy free ingredients and a refined sugar free option, this lush peanut butter mousse is the ultimate peanut butter lover’s dessert! We’re also layering it with crushed homemade gluten free Oreos for even extra decadence!
Ingredients
- 2 cups (454 g) vegan cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar or coconut sugar or maple sugar
- 1 cup (240 mL) vegan heavy cream or coconut cream, cold
- 1 cup (250 g) creamy peanut butter
- Optional: 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- Toppings: crushed homemade gluten free vegan Oreos, whipped cream, and peanut butter cups
Instructions
- Prep: Measure out all ingredients.
- Whisk: In a large bowl with a hand mixer or in a stand mixer with whisk attachment, cream together the cream cheese and sugar until fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. The sugar should start to dissolve into the cream cheese. Add in the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and mix on high speed until the heavy cream starts to fluff, about 3 minutes.
- Add in the peanut butter: Stop the mixer and pour in the peanut butter. Mix again until incorporated, stopping the mixer to scrape the bottom as needed.
- Assemble the mousse cups: Scoop the peanut butter mousse into serving cups and top with crushed Oreos if desired. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy! Top with homemade whipped cream and peanut butter cups. Enjoy!
Notes
Refined sugar free: Swap in coconut sugar or maple sugar for the granulated sugar.
