You NEED this Yogurt Dill Sauce:

Sauces are everything- they make or break the dish to be honest! And this quick and easy lemony yogurt dill sauce will absolutely make your dish.

This takes all of 2 minutes to make, and can be used in so many ways. My favorite ways are as a dressing over roasted vegetables (like these roasted crispy Brussels sprouts or this garlic roasted cauliflower!) or even a creamy pasta salad dressing! You can even thin the dressing out even more for a salad 🙂

You won’t believe how much flavor is in this sauce too- completely transforms any vegetable or protein (I LOVE it as a dip for crispy tofu too!). You’re going to be adding this yogurt dill sauce to your weekly rotation after this!

What is the difference between this yogurt dill sauce and tzatziki sauce?

This is a great question! So tzatziki sauce is a traditional Greek recipe originating from the Greek island of Paros. It contains not only yogurt, but garlic, olive oil, fresh herbs, vinegar, and cucumber- for crunch!

It’s very easy to prepare too, just like this sauce.

This lemon yogurt dill sauce is a bit different in that it’s quicker (the prep time and total time are under 5 minutes together!) and less effort- you don’t even need any instructions. It’s just mix and serve! Plus, this yogurt dill sauce leaves out the cucumber so there’s a bit more tang and no crunch!

Ingredients:

  • Dairy free yogurt: I recommend a really creamy yogurt, like Forager Project’s unsweetened plain cashew milk yogurt. You can also use a Greek-style vegan yogurt too! If you’re not vegan nor dairy free, you can use regular dairy yogurt or Greek yogurt. Another great sub is vegan sour cream (I love Forager Project’s for that too!).
  • Lemon: A whole lemon is required for fresh lemon juice, and for extra flavor, you can add lemon zest from the rind too!
  • Dill: Of course, you can’t have a yogurt dill sauce without it! I recommend fresh dill for the most flavor, but dried dill will also work in a pinch.
  • Extra virgin olive oil: A high quality olive oil is so key for flavor! A little extra fat too helps to not only stir the ingredients together, but give the yogurt sauce an even creamier texture.
  • Optional add ins: I sometimes like to stir in some garlic powder (or roasted whole garlic cloves!), onion powder, or other fresh herbs like parsley, basil, etc.

What to serve with this Dill Yogurt Sauce:

What’s amazing about this lemony yogurt dill sauce is that it’s so versatile! You can use it as a sauce or a dip. Here are a few of my favorite recipes to include this sauce with:

roasted red cabbage with yogurt dill sauce drizzled on top

How to store leftover sauce:

If you need to make this sauce in advance or have any leftovers, you can easily store it in the fridge for later use! The sauce will be good for about 5 days when stored in an airtight container. Then simply give it a good stir before serving again.

Ways to modify & diversify this yogurt sauce:

  • Use a Greek-style yogurt for more of a Greek yogurt dill dip rather than a sauce
  • Swap out different fresh herbs- you can even swap in more wintery herbs, like rosemary and thyme, during the cooler months
  • Use lime instead of lemon
  • Swap in vegan sour cream for a richer flavor!
