40+ Healthy Christmas Cookies
A collection of 40+ easy and fun healthy Christmas cookies! We’ve got a mix of Paleo, Gluten Free, Vegan, and even Keto to make sure everyone, allergy or not, can enjoy a holiday cookie!
The Banana Diaries Cookie Week 2019 is coming to an end, but we’re going out with a bang! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite healthy Christmas cookies from around my blog, and from a few of my food blogging friends, to make sure that your holidays are extra special 🙂
I’ve included a few Christmas cookie baking tips as well, so you can go confidently into the baking season, whether you’re bringing these cookies to a holiday party or a cookie exchange!
Enjoy, and happy baking!
How long are Christmas cookies good for?
If you aren’t immediately eating them (I mean, tis the season!), I would just freeze them.
Otherwise, your healthy Christmas cookies will last about a few days fresh on the table! Of course, gingerbread and sugar cookies tend to last longer, but safest bet is a few days.
Some bakers say that your cookies will last 2-3 weeks at room temperature in an air tight container butttttt I’m not sure I buy that haha!
Couldn’t tell you if that was true, because cookies have never lasted me that long ha!
Can you freeze Christmas cookies?
YES! That’s my favorite thing to do actually! My mom always did it when we were kids with any cookies she brought home from her cookie exchange, and I have to say, it makes them taste better!
I have no clue why, so don’t ask me that haha! I recommend storing your cookies in a cookie tin or airtight container, and for each level of cookie, layer it with some wax or parchment paper so that the cookies don’t stick together.
Alright, now that we’ve gone over some basic tips (some more final tips at the end of this post!), let’s get to baking some cookies! Choose your favorites from below, and enjoy!

Final Healthy Christmas Cookie Success Tips:
- Try not to modify these cookies! Some people try to make them “healthier” or swap in certain ingredients- if the recipe calls for an ingredient swap, that means the recipe creator has tested this to work out. If it’s not there, we can’t guarantee it will work!
- If the recipe says chill the dough, definitely CHILL IT! This is vital to make sure that your cookies don’t spread too much!
- Don’t overcrowd your oven. This is important. If you’re trying to get multiple batches of cookies in at once, you might not get the best results, especially because they’re each going to cook at different temperatures depending on the level in the oven. To get the most even batches of cookies, bake them one tray at a time on the same rack as the others.
- Always go with your gut. Well, this is true in basically everything, but definitely true when it comes to baking cookies for a certain amount of time. If they look ready before the directions say they should be ready, don’t risk burning the cookies you just worked so hard on! Take them out! Always go by the actual cookies in your oven rather than the time because every oven is different.
- Host a cookie swap! This is so much fun, and something that my mom, sister, and I love doing every year. Our family friends usually host it, and it’s so much fun to see what people can whip up! Choose a few of your favorites from this list and get your bake on!
WOW, what an extensive collection! This has all I need for my Christmas cooking baking needs!
I definitely plan on making different cookies ahead and freezing them. Will all of these recipes freeze well? Is it best to bake and freeze or freeze the cookie dough and then bake? How do you recommend defrosting?
Thank you so much!!
Hi Bonnie! So glad you found this! 🙂 So each cookie will have specific instructions if it can be frozen as a cookie dough before baking. You can absolutely freeze the cookies after they’ve been baked, and they’ll be delicious!
